Abstract

India has a wealth of documented and widely used information on herbal medicine. Only a small
handful of the world's most valuable medicinal plants are not native to the United States. There are
about 3,000 plants with documented therapeutic uses in India. This publication provides a
comprehensive review of the phytochemical and pharmacological analysis of Terminalia bellerica.
Using IR and GCMS analysis, an attempt was made to separate ellagic acid and describe it.
