Synthesis, Characterization and Antimicrobial Evaluation of Some Tetrahydroquinazoline Derivatives of Benzo[b]thiophene
Keywords:
3-chlorobenzo[b]thiophene-2-carbonyl Antimicrobial activity, synthesis.Abstract
The current study details the synthesis of 3-a-dimethyl-3,4,7,8-tetrahydroquinazoline2, 5(1H, 6H)dione from
4-(1-(3-chlorobenzo[b]thiophene-2-carbonyl)-1H-indol-3-yl). Beginning with indole-3-aldehyde and 3-
chloro-1-benzothiophene-2-carbonylchloride, these as-yet-unreported compounds are prepared (1a-d). A
ransomware of chemicals (3a-d) was cooked up. Infrared and 1H NMR spectra of the newly produced
chemicals helped to clarify their structures. All of the compounds showed excellent to moderate antimicrobial
activity when tested against S. aureus, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa in a broth dilution assay, and they were also
tested against Candida albicans, A. niger, and A. clavatus in an antifungal assay.
